Deep Fryers

Deep frying as a cooking method has become more unfashionable in these more health-conscious times, but some dishes absolutely require it - fish and chips is only one of the more obvious examples.

While we wouldn't recommend deep frying on a daily basis, and shudder at the thought of deep fried mars bars and the like, using it now and then when the recipe requires it is probably a sensible route.

There's also a safety aspect to frying - chip pan fires were once a fairly common occurrence, not to mention accidents from overheated oil spitting out of the pan. Nowadays most people will use a thermostat-controlled deep fryer, like the ones below, which are much safer, and also give you more control over the speed at which your food cooks.
